We are a large English-speaking amateur (or community) theatre group, founded in 1981 by parents of the British section of the Lycée International in Saint-Germain-en-Laye (78) as a non-profit association.
Initially, the group was formed to produce musicals – one every year – but, in 1995, we also put on a play (The Way of the World) that was performed at the Maison des Associations in Saint-Germain-en-Laye and, since then, we have tried to produce both a musical and a play every year, as well as the occasional revue for our members and their families, and contribute to drama festivals. In all, we produced 77 shows between 1981 and 2025.
Performers, backstage staff and other organisers are voluntary and unpaid. However, we do pay for professional assistance – notably for sound and lighting design – when we need it.

Up until a few years ago, our main venue was the Salle des Arts in Le Pecq, now called Le Quai 3, where we would perform once or twice every year. Other venues include the Espace des Arts, Villennes-sur-Seine, the Centre Culturel Jean Vilar in Marly-le-Roi, the Salle Jacques Tati in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, and the Centre Georges Brassens in Le Mesnil-le-Roi.
We hope to return to Le Quai 3 very shortly, once its refurbishment has been completed.

As a general rule, rehearsals are on weekday evenings (usually 20h-22h) and usually no more than twice a week. In the weeks leading up to performance, there may also be rehearsals scheduled at weekends.
Most rehearsals take place in Le Pecq, either at Pôle Wilson or in Salle Brassens.

Unlike many British and North-American theatre groups, anyone – and not just members – can audition for our productions. You need no special qualifications or experience. Anyone can come along and try their luck. For each production, there will be details of the roles available as well audition dates on the website. If you are on our mailing list, you will also receive these details by email.

In general, actors and singers are not so very hard to find. On the other hand, the people we are constantly on the lookout for are those who work backstage or front of house and are vital to any production. If you would like to be involved with set design, set construction, costumes, props, box office, bar sales… in fact, any aspect of a production that is not “performance,” we would be delighted to hear from you.

If you become involved in a production, either onstage or backstage, you are required to become a member. This is essential for insurance purposes. Members also benefit from free or reduced-cost workshops and other events. Non-members are often invited to such events, but at a higher admission cost.
Annual membership rates (from September to September) are:
Single adult 40,00€
Full-time student 20,00€
Couple 60,00€

The main activity of the International Players is the production of plays and musicals in English. When there are roles for children in those productions – as in Annie or Oliver – then, of course, we make this known to our members and to the relevant schools, but otherwise we do not organise any courses, workshops or shows specifically for children or young adults.

We are always interested in receiving proposals for productions. Your proposal might be one of the following:
– I would like to propose a play or musical that I have written;
– I would like to direct a specific play or musical (not one that I have written myself);
– I would like to direct something, but I have no specific project in mind;
– I would like to suggest that you put on a specific play or musical.
We welcome all and any proposals and will give them our full consideration.
